POSITION OVERVIEW
The Head Start Lead Teacher is accountable for designing, executing, and supervising classroom activities for preschool-aged children.

This position requires collaboration with children from various backgrounds, including those with disabilities, and engaging with families to foster the children's holistic development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direct oversight of the Group/Head Teacher, the Assistant Teacher will be tasked with:

1. Intervening to prevent child abuse and neglect, in accordance with Federal and State Law.

2. Upholding the confidentiality of family records and information.

3. Participating in all relevant training sessions and meetings.


4. Aiding in the planning and implementation of a program that addresses the social, developmental, and health needs of both the group and individual children.

5. Assisting in maintaining observational logs and other documentation for each child.

6. Taking responsibility for supervising the group of children in the absence of the Group Teacher.

7. Reporting or removing any damaged or hazardous equipment to the Group Teacher or designated personnel for necessary action.

8. Ensuring that equipment and materials are accessible and in good condition to promote maximum constructive use by the children.

9. Assisting in arranging classroom furniture to create an environment conducive to young children's learning.

10. Engaging in the use of shared spaces in relation to the overall center program.

11. Supporting the Group Teacher in developing and maintaining a positive relationship with families.

12. Attending and contributing to monthly educational parent meetings.

13. Adhering to the approved plan for sharing information regarding the children and program with families.

14. Encouraging parental participation in meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS
Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or Social Services (with 1-2 years of experience in an early childhood setting)


Minimum CDA or completion of 60 college credits with 1-2 years of experience working with children from newborn to age 3 in a center-based option or equivalent.

$45,000 - $60,000
