Nature of Work

The City of Bellingham is actively seeking applications for part-time, non-benefited positions as Aquatic Facility Cashiers. This recruitment is ongoing to meet current and future staffing requirements throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Welcome visitors and provide information about entry fees and program schedules.
  2. Handle admissions, process pass purchases, and manage class registrations.
  3. Respond to inquiries regarding facilities, pool hours, and class details both in person and via a multi-line phone system.
  4. Maintain an organized cash drawer and ensure accurate cash handling and reconciliation.
  5. Assist with facility bookings for classes, private lessons, and rentals.
  6. Manage waitlists for programs and promote course enrollment.
  7. Perform data entry tasks into the computerized registration system.

Additional Duties:
  1. Support general office tasks such as typing, filing, and faxing.
  2. Assist during emergencies, including first aid and crowd management.
  3. Monitor and maintain cleanliness in restroom and locker room areas.
  4. Participate in snow removal or sanding during adverse weather conditions to ensure safe access to facilities.
  5. Attend training meetings and may undertake special projects as assigned.

Working Environment:
Work primarily occurs in an office setting with frequent public interaction. The role requires walking on wet surfaces and occasional lifting of supplies.

Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • One year of cashier or related experience handling cash is required.
  • Six months of customer service or receptionist experience is necessary.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office is preferred.

Special Requirements:
  • Shifts may vary between early morning and evening hours, including weekends.
  • Employment is contingent upon passing background checks.
  • Must obtain CPR/AED and First Aid Certification within three months of hire.
