Department: Parks and Recreation

Nature of Work: The City of Bellingham Parks Department is seeking applications for part-time, non-benefited Aquatic Center Cashiers. This ongoing recruitment aims to fulfill current and future staffing requirements throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome patrons and provide essential information regarding admission costs and program schedules.
  • Process admissions, manage pass purchases, and handle class registrations.
  • Address inquiries related to facilities, pool hours, and class details both in-person and via phone.
  • Maintain an accurate cash drawer and perform cash reconciliation at the end of shifts.
  • Assist in managing waitlists for programs and promote course enrollment.
  • Perform data entry into the computerized registration system.

Work Environment: This role is primarily office-based with frequent public interaction. It involves some physical activity, including walking on wet surfaces and lifting supplies.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • One year of cashiering or related money-handling experience is required.
  • Six months of customer service or receptionist experience is necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is preferred.

Additional Information: Employees in this position may work up to 69 hours per month and are eligible for Washington State paid sick leave. This position does not offer traditional benefits but provides access to an employee assistance program.
