Job Summary

The YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids is seeking a dedicated and caring Early Learning Assistant Teacher to join our team. As a key member of our childcare staff, you will play a vital role in creating a nurturing and engaging environment for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning and implementing daily lesson plans that promote cognitive, social, and emotional development
  • Engage with children in the classroom, fostering a sense of community and belonging
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers, keeping them informed about their child's progress and needs
  • Prepare materials and resources for daily activities, ensuring a safe and stimulating environment
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, arrival, and departure times, as well as supervise children during activities
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to ensure a cohesive and effective learning environment
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or CDA preferred, or proof of current enrollment in CDA or college-level degree program required
  • Three to six months of childcare-related experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience preferred
  • Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles
  • Desire to work with and care for infants, toddlers, and preschool children
