Job Summary

The YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids is seeking a dedicated and caring individual to join our team as an Early Learning Assistant Teacher. This role is responsible for assisting in the planning, development, and implementation of classroom activities for infant, toddler, or preschool programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing and leading daily lesson plans
  • Engage with children in the classroom and provide individualized attention
  • Communicate with parents and guardians regarding their child's progress
  • Prepare materials and resources for daily activities
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, arrival, and departure times
  • Supervise children during activities and ensure their safety
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences and provide feedback
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to ensure a cohesive and effective learning environment
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or CDA preferred, or proof of current enrollment in CDA or college-level degree program required
  • Three to six months of childcare-related experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience preferred
  • Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles
  • Ability and desire to work with and care for infants, toddler, and preschool children
