Job Summary

The YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Early Learning Assistant Teacher to join our team. As an Early Learning Assistant Teacher, you will play a vital role in the planning, development, and implementation of classroom activities for infant, toddler, or preschool programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development and implementation of daily lesson plans
  • Engage with children in the classroom and promote a safe and nurturing environment
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding their child's progress and needs
  • Prepare materials and resources for daily activities
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, arrival, and departure times
  • Supervise children during activities and ensure their safety
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences as needed
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to ensure a cohesive and effective learning environment
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or CDA preferred, or proof of current enrollment in CDA or college-level degree program required
  • Three to six months of childcare-related experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience preferred
  • Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles
  • Ability and desire to work with and care for infants, toddler, and preschool children
Certifications and Clearances
  • Blood Borne Pathogen training
  • CPR Certification required within the first 60 days
  • First Aid Certification required within the first 60 days
  • State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT)
  • Fingerprinting
  • DHS clearance
  • Negative T.B. skin test
  • Documentation of physical exam
