Summary
The Patient Referral Specialist is tasked with managing referrals, processing authorizations, and coordinating appointment scheduling.
Key Responsibilities
  • Uphold the Mass General Brigham values in all decisions, actions, and behaviors.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by greeting patients in a calm and supportive manner.
  • Manage the Referral line efficiently on a daily basis.
  • Process all prior authorizations in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate referrals by liaising with internal or external specialty departments to arrange appointments.
  • Send all relevant information to external physicians for scheduled appointments.
  • Assist in rescheduling physician appointments as necessary.
  • Conduct follow-up calls to patients who have not been scheduled.
  • Answer incoming calls promptly and courteously, adhering to the Pentucket standard greeting.
  • Notify clinical staff regarding scheduled appointments and testing.
  • Input all appointments into the EPIC system, including referral and prior authorization numbers.
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Working Hours
Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
Qualifications
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of formal requirements.
  • A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required.
  • At least one year of customer service experience is necessary.
  • Prior experience in a medical office setting is essential.
  • Experience in handling referrals is preferred.
