The Collateral Recovery Specialist is a critical role within the Local Government Federal Credit Union, responsible for safeguarding the organization's security interests in collateral pledged in loan obligations. This position requires a high degree of expertise in managing and maintaining all activities related to exercising remedies to protect the Credit Union's assets.
Key Responsibilities- Collateral Management: The Collateral Recovery Specialist will actively manage collateral recovery from assignment through disposition and finalization, ensuring timely and efficient processing of collateral-related activities.
- Policy Adherence: This role requires strict adherence to policies and procedures specific to exercising the Credit Union's right to secure collateral on defaulted loans, as well as compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Collateral Location Identification: The Specialist will be responsible for identifying and managing collateral locations, as well as conducting skip tracing activities to locate and recover collateral.
- Notice and Communication: Timely and compliant notices will be sent to borrowers, and the Specialist will assist with escalated actions, such as litigation, to pursue timely collateral recovery.
- Collateral Insurance and Claim Management: The Specialist will maintain oversight of collateral insurance policies and claim types, ensuring accurate and timely processing of collateral-related claims.
- Vendor Management: The Specialist will hold vendor relationships accountable for timely response and progression of accounts assigned for recovery.
- Performance Review and Documentation: Regular performance reviews will be conducted to ensure practices are consistent with Credit Union values and policies, and accurate documentation of collection activity records will be maintained.
- Member Experience: The Specialist will provide a superior member experience by actively listening to and assessing the needs of members, identifying and recommending solutions, and referring members to the appropriate person or department.
- Experience: A minimum of 4-6 years' experience in collateral recovery is required.
- Skills: Excellent verbal, written, telephone, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills, are essential for this role.
- Education: A BA/BS in Finance or Business Discipline is preferred, and previous financial institution work or collection experience at a Credit Union or other financial institution is desired.
