We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomy Specialist to join our team at Steward Health Care. As a key member of our laboratory support staff, you will be responsible for collecting and processing specimens, interacting with patients and healthcare providers, and maintaining a high level of customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Collect and receive all eligible specimens in the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
- Operate the centrifuge and follow all safety guidelines
- Deliver all specimens to the proper department within specified time frames
- Process specimens for sendout departments and perform basic sendout protocols
- Answer telephones and provide customer service in a professional manner
- Follow hospital and department policies regarding personal protective equipment, biohazard waste, and sharps disposal
- Order patient lab work as required in the LIS
- Review the outstanding specimen list with the next shift
- Clean and stock the accessioning bench
- Properly identify patients in accordance with laboratory and hospital policy
- High school graduate or equivalent required
- 0-1 years of experience preferred
- Phlebotomy certificate from an accredited program preferred
