About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our team and contribute to the design and development of our next-generation profiler. The successful candidate will have experience in the design documentation and fabrication of subsea equipment, as well as expertise in finite-element analysis and simulation software.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver the mechanical design of our next-generation profiler by solving major challenges in the design of buoyancy control systems, structures, and packaging.
- Develop and maintain a thorough and detailed model to enable the simulation of systems, CB/CG modeling, and buoyancy models.
- Bring a hands-on approach to working with our partners, fabricators, and internal team to bring prototypes to reality in a compressed timeframe.
- Participate in all phases of the testing cycle to provide early identification of risks to the project and rapidly provide cost and performance implications.
- Provide guidance and a strong engineering voice as the manufacturing team ramps up to production quantities.
- BSME (or related degree) from a 4-year college/university
- 6+ years of relevant experience
- Expertise in one of the mainstream 3D mechanical engineering CAD/Simulation software programs
- Expertise in finite-element analysis to evaluate stresses, and structural modes
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively amongst a diverse group of engineering disciplines
- MS degree in Mechanical Engineering or Physics with ≥ 10 years of relevant experience
- Experience in engineering leadership roles in a cross-functional environment
- Proficiency with maker skills such as rapid prototyping machinery and electromechanical assembly
