Job Summary:

Draper is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Instrument Engineer to join our Electro-Mechanical Instruments Group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing cutting-edge electro-mechanical instruments for guidance applications. Your expertise in precision mechanical systems, opto-mechanics, and control systems will be essential in delivering high-performance sensors that meet the world's most stringent requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

* Design and develop precision instruments, including gyroscopes, accelerometers, and guidance-aiding sensors
* Collaborate with a team of engineers and physicists to build next-generation prototypes and characterize their performance
* Develop production roll-out and deliver production-hardened sensors
* Mentor junior engineers and lead technical teams in a fast-paced environment
* Assist in the architecture, design, and delivery of electro-mechanical instruments and coordinate a team of SMEs to deliver electronic hardware

Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Applied Physics, Electrical, or Computer Engineering required; Master's or PhD preferred
* 5-10 years of experience in Hardware Instrument Engineering or a related field
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Proficient with general modeling and simulation tools, such as MATLAB, CAD software, and FEA software

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
* 5-10 years of technical experience in a relevant industry or research environment
* Ability and interest in mentoring students and junior engineers
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Track record of inventiveness and technical leadership
