About the Role

The Financial Operations Specialist is responsible for managing daily accounting tasks for multiple complex clients, primarily nonprofits, and works alongside a fast-paced team of accounting professionals. The work is fast-paced and client-centric, requiring adaptability and strong technical skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review weekly bank reconciliations and cash position reports
  • Perform month-end close procedures and prepare financial statements as needed
  • Enter and post journal entries, record appropriate monthly accruals, reconcile intercompany accounts, and perform analysis and provide reasoning for variances
  • Complete all grant compliance reports and budget-to-actual variance reports for assigned clients
  • Record all intercompany transactions and transfers
  • Communicate with client management regarding cash flow issues and potential courses of action
  • Perform new client onboarding and training and resolve inquiries from clients, governmental agencies, and auditors
  • Assist in special projects and year-end audit schedule preparation
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field. Master's degree is a plus
  • A CPA license or CPA eligibility is a plus
  • At least 2 years of experience preparing financial statements (full close)
  • Purpose, methods, and practices of financial and accounting record keeping
  • Basic accrual accounting principles and procedures
  • Strong technical computer skills – proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and comfort learning software systems
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, to maintain strong relationships with both clients and internal staff
