Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to join our team at Altium Limited. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the execution of water and wastewater projects, ensuring timely completion, and maintaining high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Account Management
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring long-term satisfaction and revenue growth.
    • Evaluate bidding opportunities, negotiate contracts, and maintain effective communication with stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to identify cross-selling opportunities and drive business growth.
    • Provide regular updates to senior management on project progress and any significant issues.
  • Project Planning
    • Work closely with the Preconstruction and Project Support team to develop project plans, maximizing profit opportunities.
    • Lead project kick-off meetings, estimating, and support group work sessions.
    • Prepare breakdowns of estimates using the Labor Analysis Workflow (LAW) Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Review plans and specifications, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
    • Initiate safety programs and ensure their implementation.
  • Project Management (Office)
    • Manage assigned projects in accordance with company procedures and policies.
    • Complete project startup procedures, including:
  1. Making projections, budgeting, and performing job cost entry for materials, labor, subcontracts, LAW, Packaged Alterman Construction Kits (PACK), and Direct Job Expenses (DJE).
  2. Project scheduling for construction, material release(s), labor, and cash flow.
  3. Interpreting contracts and providing input to proposed project teams.
Project Development:
  1. Lead project review meetings, prepare meeting documentation for small and mid-sized projects, and perform monthly project review meetings for large-scale projects.
  2. Prepare agendas and run internal meetings as needed.
  3. Establish project schedules of values for fixed-sum contracts and assist in billing preparation and billing projections for fee-based projects.
  4. Prepare accurate job cost projections regularly as directed.
  5. Prepare change order proposals and quotations.
  6. Review, request, or create quotations and bills of materials.
  7. Review and process shop drawings.
  8. Prepare major purchase orders while following appropriate pricing and scope evaluations.
  9. Maintain material files (purchase orders, memos, quotes, shop drawings, test reports, action item lists, field record drawings, etc.).
  10. Coordinate with Purchasing to procure and coordinate delivery of materials to the project while achieving project material budgets.
  11. Arrange for the selection and placement of key supervisory personnel in coordination with Workforce Development and Preplanning/Productivity Superintendent.
  12. Evaluate performance of personnel and address deficiencies.
  13. Coordinate with Workforce Development and Preplanning/Productivity Superintendent to achieve project labor budgets.
Complete project close-out procedures, including:
  1. Addressing items on the punch list, sign-off, final billing, retainage, collections, warranty, returns, closing purchase orders open commitments, finalizing record documents, final AHJ inspections, and updating project descriptions and Operation and Maintenance Manuals.
  2. Scheduling and leading project close-out meetings and preparing close-out documents.
Project Management (Field)
  • Complete project startup procedures, including making projections and interpreting contracts and providing input to proposed project teams.
  • Project Development:
  1. Attend on-site project meetings.
  2. Prepare accurate job cost projections regularly as directed.
  3. Review and process shop drawings.
  4. Arrange for the selection and placement of key supervisory personnel in coordination with Workforce Development and Preplanning/Productivity Superintendent.
  5. Evaluate performance of personnel and address deficiencies.
  6. Coordinate with Workforce Development and Preplanning/Productivity Superintendent to achieve project labor budgets.
  7. Complete project close-out procedures, including addressing items on the punch list and updating Operation and Maintenance Manuals.
Team Leadership
  • Oversee and provide support to direct reports, ensuring their job responsibilities are fulfilled.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews.
Process Improvement
  • Work with the department director or Senior Project Manager to identify critical path activities and prepare process documentation.
  • Ensure that other staff members understand the processes and can provide adequate support for critical path activities.
  • Review documentation annually and make necessary adjustments to reflect current processes.
Other Duties
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Must meet the minimum requirements of one of the following pathways:
  1. Inside Wireman Apprenticeship Completion or similar/equivalent, 2 years' experience in a field supervisory position, and successful completion of the 2-year Assistant Project Manager program.
  2. Associate degree in Business Management, Construction Management, or Construction Engineering and successful completion of the 2-year Assistant Project Manager program.
  3. 2 years' experience as a Project Manager in the electrical construction industry.
Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective reasoning and judgment skills.
  • Proficient with or able to learn how to use Primavera, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Suite, accounting software, estimating software, and other required systems and software.
  • Able to read and interpret all contract documents, plans, specifications, and requirements.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to capitalize on project opportunities.
  • Able to maintain working knowledge of trade terms, materials, methods, codes, contract, and specification language, and bidding methods.
  • Possesses and maintains knowledge of the National Electric Code, electrical engineering fundamentals, purchasing and buying processes, and accounting concepts.
  • Able to complete continuous education courses and trainings as required.
Work Environment
  • Office environment with some travel required.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to use hands or fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; must be able to reach with hands and arms. Manual dexterity associated with computer data entry required.
  • Must be able to talk and hear.
  • Must be able to frequently sit.
  • Must be able to occasionally stand, walk, climb, balance, crouch or crawl, stoop, and kneel.
  • Must be able to safely operate a vehicle to travel to and from job sites.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to safely maneuver in a construction environment.
  • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception are required.
