Job Title: Director of Finance

About the Role:

The Director of Finance will oversee and administer all matters related to the financial operations of the agency's grants and awards. This includes supervision of Budget Analysts, financial reports to funders, contract and program budgets, vouchering for contracts and fees, and overseeing agency budget preparation and management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage program and grant budgets in coordination with the development team, program management, and Budget Analysts.
  • Serve as a liaison between Finance and program staff, ensuring strong interpersonal skills and effective communication.
  • Oversee contract and program budget preparation and modifications, contributing heavily to the RFP process.
  • Monitor budget allocations, expense allocations, and related financial activities within specific funding sources, ensuring accuracy and fiscal practices.
  • Team with Accounting Manager and Finance staff to ensure accuracy of payroll allocations within the payroll system and general ledger.
  • Prepare periodic funder reports, including quarterly federal grant reporting and MWBE expenditures reporting.
  • Monitor grants and contract compliance, identifying and acting upon outstanding collectibles in coordination with finance staff.
  • Manage Grants Receivable and collections, ensuring timely and accurate financial management.
  • Develop and enhance systems for contracts and grants administration, using technology to streamline operations.

Requirements:

  • Experience in budgeting and financial management of multiple government grants and contracts in a nonprofit setting.
  • BA or BS with a major in accounting, finance, or another quantitative field, or supplemented by experience.
  • Analytical skills and critical thinking abilities required.
  • Experience using Sage Intacct accounting software highly desired.
  • Experience in the criminal justice field or human services a plus.
