We are in search of a Senior Cardiac Monitoring Technician for our healthcare facility, tasked with ensuring high-quality patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of a registered nurse, the Monitor Technician plays a vital role in supporting the continuous assessment of patients' cardiac rhythms, utilizing EKG expertise across various age groups including pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.

This role supports unit leadership in fulfilling the hospital's mission, vision, values, and commitment to quality, while assisting in the planning and execution of strategies to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, National Patient Safety Goals, and HCAHPS objectives.

Responsibilities include logging new admissions, discharging patients in the Meditech system, and preparing charts for incoming patients.

Additional duties involve Meditech order entry, responding to call lights and phone inquiries with established communication protocols, and maintaining awareness of patient statuses in the ICU. Faxing requests as needed is also part of the role.

The technician will admit patients to the telemetry system, document admission rhythm strips, set limits, and enter patient information into the telemetry logbook. Continuous monitoring of cardiac rhythms for any changes is essential.

Immediate notification of any alterations in patients' rates or rhythms to the primary or charge nurse is required, along with prompt review of all alarms.

Documentation of rhythm strips for all patients per protocol, including rhythm and PR interval measurements, is expected. Telemetry strips must be posted on patient charts according to established standards.

Upon notification of IV medication administration, the technician will run strips and document the medication and time given, ensuring full disclosure during shift handoff reports.

Preparation of a telemetry report at the end of each shift is necessary, along with the release of rhythm strips to the nursing unit upon patient discharge or telemetry termination.
Running and documenting strips during cardiac or respiratory arrests, as well as cleaning transmitters as per manufacturer recommendations, are also part of the responsibilities. Collaboration with management to develop a professional growth plan is encouraged.

Educational Requirements:
A High School Diploma or GED is preferred.

Completion of a basic EKG course or demonstrated proficiency in rhythm interpretation is required.
