About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cardiovascular Specialist to join our team at Emory Healthcare. As a key member of our Cardiac Cath Lab team, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Precept new staff and students, ensuring they have the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their duties effectively.
  • Masters concepts of hemodynamics and has intermediate knowledge of x-ray equipment and troubleshooting.
  • Assists with circulating role as needed, troubleshooting imaging equipment, and collaborating with biomedical engineers for service.
  • Participates in procedural charging, maintains supply management, and acts quickly under emergency situations.
  • Discusses with physicians the plan of action and assists with high-risk procedures.
  • Cross-trains as needed to support departmental needs, monitors cases, and understands and works with x-ray systems.
  • Manages access sites, including proper removal of sheaths, assessment of hematomas, and knowledge of hematoma management.
  • Understands concepts of radiation safety, coronary anatomy, and recognizing different types of lesions.
  • Basic knowledge of supply features and applications to procedures, knowledge and adherence to sterile technique.
  • Communicates effectively with team, patients, families, and medical staff.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Assists in procedures such as complex PCI, including CTO, and complex procedures, including multiple wire exchanges and use of long wires and OTW balloons.
  • Uses specialty devices such as rotablater, CSI, laser, and shockwave.
  • May participate in structural heart cases and troubleshoots emergency equipment, including balloon pumps and ventricular assist devices.
  • Assists in scrub role for procedures such as right and left heart catheterization, PCIs, and STEMIs.
  • Assists in advanced EP procedures, including lead extractions, complex ablations, and stims independently.
  • Assists in scrub role for procedures such as cardiac ablations, device implants, ECDs, generator changes, and loop recorders.
Requirements
  • Registered as ARRT with CI credential or RCIS or RCES.
  • Minimum: Licensed AEMT or National Registered Paramedic (NRP) or graduate of accredited school of radiologic technology or accredited school of cardiovascular technology or academic program in health sciences.
  • Must become registered as an ARRT with post-primary category of cardiac interventional radiography or RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) or RCES obtained within 12 months of hire or promotion as a condition of continued employment.
