Staff Mechanical Engineer

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a highly skilled Staff Mechanical Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our project teams, you will be responsible for creating world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments across various industries, including power, process, corporate, healthcare, pipeline, airports, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, government, and military facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Perform mechanical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
- Modify and review production drawings for a variety of projects, including power plants, process facilities, industrial facilities, healthcare facilities, airports, educational institutions, commercial, and governmental and military facilities.
- Design mechanical components for project needs and requirements set forth by project managers.
- Apply strong knowledge of commonly used mechanical engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the mechanical engineering services industry.
- Research and compile project-related data as required by project managers.
- Update drawings provided by senior engineers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD-related software.
- Compile information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for the design of power, process, pipeline, industrial, healthcare, airports, educational institutions, commercial, and governmental and military facilities.
- Perform field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program.
- Or Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
- Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering may be substituted for 1 year of experience.
- 3 years of mechanical engineering experience, project experience with DoD and other federal agencies preferred.
- Successful completion (i.e., passing) FE or EIT preferred.
- Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
- Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
- Strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Strong computer skills include AutoCAD, BIM (Revit), 3D Rendering Programs, hydraulic analysis, and HVAC analysis programs.
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
The expected compensation range for this position is $100,000.00-135,000.00 Annually. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
