Opportunity Overview

WSP is seeking a Lead Mechanical Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities
Provide expert technical support and direction for comprehensive due diligence, design, development, construction, testing, and evaluation of mechanical systems across various infrastructure and building projects in both public and private sectors.

Responsibilities encompass the research, design, conceptualization, planning, installation, operation, maintenance, and seamless integration of automatic temperature control, air distribution, hydronic, and plumbing systems, equipment, and processes.

Document and substantiate reports regarding installation, construction, and operational specifications, ensuring adherence to quality standards that meet or exceed industry benchmarks for design, safety, and functionality.


Your Impact


Establish clear methodologies for gathering, compiling, and analyzing data from work sites, surveys, blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and other matrices essential for project development, design, and construction.


Conduct professional mechanical engineering tasks, including research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, resources, and mechanical systems to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards.


Develop comprehensive construction and installation plans, specifications, and cost estimates; prepare safety and phasing plans, and update infrastructure layout plans requiring coordination with various stakeholders.


Utilize advanced technology, modeling techniques, and design requirements to ensure proper installation and operation of equipment and systems according to specifications, implementing innovative solutions aligned with mechanical engineering standards.


Verify site characteristics and provide technical guidance on engineering, design, and construction issues related to automatic temperature control systems, air distribution, hydronic systems, and plumbing systems.


Collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers, planners, and scientific professionals to execute project work across multiple concurrent projects, assisting in the layout of equipment installation, cost calculations, and ensuring compliance with specifications and regulatory requirements.


Prepare data visualizations such as tables, charts, reports, sketches, calculations, and technical drawings for effective interpretation and presentation of findings.

Maintain rigorous quality control standards for accurate measurements, statistical analysis, and reporting.


Who You Are

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
- 5 to 7 years of relevant post-education experience in engineering with prior mechanical design experience.
- Engineer in Training Certification.
- Proficient understanding of mechanical engineering principles, practices, and their application to project-related issues.
- Experience in building and infrastructure planning, design, and construction management, including involvement in various rehabilitation and new design projects.
- Knowledge of processes for minimizing hazardous substances and greenhouse gas emissions.
- Familiarity with relevant mechanical system laws, codes, regulations, and compliance practices.
- Ability to perform technical computations and comparisons to applicable regulations.
- Project management experience with small to mid-level projects, including tracking project hours and expenses.
- Effective communication skills for interaction with diverse audiences.
- Strong self-leadership skills with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize responsibilities in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in technical writing and discipline-specific design software (e.g., AutoCAD, CAM).
- Developed critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to apply technical knowledge effectively.
- Proven commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health and safety policies.

Expected Salary:
$93,700 - $136,620


WSP USA provides this compensation range based on the successful applicant's qualifications and experience, along with internal equity considerations.
