Role SummaryThe Human Resources Generalist plays a crucial role in managing the daily HR operations at Best Choice Products. This position encompasses various functions such as recruitment, onboarding, timekeeping, leave management, and HR administration. The HR Generalist serves as a key contact for all HR-related inquiries, including payroll, benefits, and employee relations, while collaborating with the corporate headquarters. This role is vital in fostering a positive workplace culture and enhancing the employee experience.
Reporting StructureThe Human Resources Generalist will report directly to the Human Resources Manager or the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) and will work closely with employees across the organization.
Key Responsibilities- Act as a proactive HR resource for employees and management, handling consultations, timecard maintenance for temporary staff, and responding to HR inquiries.
- Assist supervisors with the time and attendance system to ensure accurate tracking of work hours for full-time employees.
- Address employee relations matters, conducting thorough investigations into complaints and supporting disciplinary processes as necessary.
- Oversee the onboarding and offboarding processes for staff members.
- Coordinate and facilitate employee engagement initiatives and events.
- Ensure adherence to the Employee Handbook and communicate HR policies and regulations to all employees.
- Stay informed on federal, state, and local employment laws, ensuring compliance and best practices are followed.
- Support the Training & Development Specialist in monitoring mandatory training and professional development for employees.
- Handle inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, escalating complex issues to appropriate personnel.
- Participate in Safety and Engagement Committees.
- Manage workers' compensation claims and oversee leaves of absence.
- Maintain OSHA logs to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Prepare and update employment records throughout the employee lifecycle.
- Exercise discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
- Develop relationships with staffing agencies and coordinate temporary employee assignments.
- Facilitate recruitment for full-time hourly positions, including pre-screening candidates and coordinating interviews.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred; relevant work experience may be considered.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in an HR role (such as Coordinator, Administrator, or Generalist), preferably in a warehouse or distribution center setting.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal and conflict resolution abilities.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and meet deadlines across various responsibilities.
- Commitment to integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Thorough understanding of employment laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Ability to quickly learn HRIS and talent management systems; experience with ADP Workforce Now is a plus.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime during peak periods.
