Lead Solutions Engineer

Fastly is seeking an enthusiastic and inquisitive Solutions Engineer to play a pivotal role in supporting our sales team. We are assembling a group skilled in pinpointing customer challenges, crafting innovative solutions utilizing Fastly's comprehensive suite of services, articulating the advantages of our offerings, and addressing any technical concerns. The ideal candidate will possess a strong aptitude for developing a technical sales approach and collaborating effectively with Sales, Product Management, Product Marketing, and Engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze customer requirements and assist in formulating a technical sales strategy.
  • Conduct product demonstrations through virtual meetings.
  • Offer pre-sales assistance to clients in configuring services and solutions.
  • Engage in product, sales, and role-specific training to maintain effectiveness.
  • Contribute to timely and effective responses to RFPs.
  • Provide both pre and post-sales support to Account Executives and Account Managers.
  • Facilitate the development and support of customer Proofs of Concept (POCs) across Fastly's entire product range.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales Leadership to establish guidelines for deal support and assist in technical training for junior Account Executives.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience or proven exceptional performance in a Solutions Engineer role.
  • Experience in relevant industries is preferred.
  • Proficiency in cloud and web technologies is essential.
  • Customer-facing experience is a must.
  • Experience delivering demonstrations to both technical and business-oriented audiences.
  • Familiarity with networking/security systems/protocols and Linux systems is crucial.
  • Knowledge of video streaming and W3 technologies is advantageous.
  • Excellent written communication skills are necessary.
  • A mindset that is open, curious, and receptive to new ideas and methodologies.
  • Ability to effectively mentor and educate junior Account Executives.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, or a related field is preferred.

Preferred Experience:

  • Extensive experience with major CDN/Edge Computing platforms and/or WAF, RASP, and Bot Management solutions.
  • Ability to code or learn web scripting with knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Varnish / VCL / JavaScript / Rust / Go) is a plus.
  • Experience in a leadership or mentoring capacity is desirable.

Work Hours:

  • This position requires availability during core business hours.

Work Location & Travel:

This role necessitates a presence in the office for a minimum of three days each week. Travel may be required as per the demands of the role.

Compensation:

The estimated range for On-Target Earnings for this position is between $164,050 and $205,070, which includes a combination of base salary and sales compensation. The standard pay structure for this role typically follows a 75/25 split between base pay and variable target.
