Job Summary

Cumming Group is seeking a highly skilled Senior Payroll Accountant to join our team in Westport, CT. As a key member of our Payroll team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of payroll processing, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Close Support: Assist with the monthly financial close by preparing account reconciliations, submitting journal entries, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to obtain relevant information.
  • Payroll Processing: Manage the posting of bi-weekly payroll journals, reconcile salary data to the general ledger, and explain month-over-month variances in salary and benefits.
  • Benefits Administration: Account for and reconcile various benefit plans, including life insurance, medical, dental, vision, HSA, FSA, and transit.
  • Payroll Audits: Provide support during payroll audits and collaborate with HR and Finance to implement new processes and improve existing ones.
  • Excel Expertise: Demonstrate advanced expertise in Excel, utilizing pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and functions for comprehensive reporting.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in accounting, GL accounting software, and payroll systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of payroll functions, including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • High proficiency in Excel.
  • Preferred knowledge of Workday Payroll System and Deltek VantagePoint.
