Medical Unit Coordinator

Penn Medicine seeks a dedicated Medical Unit Coordinator to join their team at Pennsylvania Hospital. As an integral member of the patient care team, this role requires exceptional communication and organizational skills to ensure seamless coordination of patient care.
About the Role
This position is responsible for providing receptionist support, ensuring health information records are properly obtained and maintained, and facilitating the patient admission transfer and discharge process. The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills, be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and prioritize tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Provide receptionist support including answering telephones, greeting visitors, and responding to patient call lights
- Ensure that health information records are properly obtained, duplicated, assembled, maintained, and disassembled
- Facilitate the patient admission transfer and discharge process
- Communicate STAT and NOW orders to RN's or other pertinent staff within established guidelines
- Communicate with ancillary and support services to ensure adequacy of office-related equipment and forms
Requirements
- H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
- Post high school education, which includes computer courses and medical terminology, preferred
