Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Scientist to join our team at National Jewish Health. As a Laboratory Scientist, you will be responsible for performing high-complexity tests and assays in our clinical laboratory under the direction of our supervisor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Test Performance: Perform high-complexity tests and assays in the clinical laboratory, adhering to quality control policies and procedures.
  • Quality Control: Document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed.
  • Troubleshooting: Follow established guidelines to troubleshoot and correct assay problems or instrument malfunctions.
  • Data Entry: Perform error correction, data entry, and compilation of data packets as required.
  • Proficiency Testing: Participate in and maintain records of proficiency testing samples, ensuring they are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Follow GxP standards, as defined by national and international organizations, when applicable.
  • Competencies: Perform competencies, including age-specific competencies and non-human species, as identified through the departmental competency program.
  • Computer Systems: Appropriately use computer systems in the department, including proper use of order/reports/charging, and maximize personal proficiency.
  • Supply Management: Monitor and report on stocks of supplies and equipment, as directed, and make reagents as necessary.
  • Inspections: Participate in preparation for inspections, as required.
  • Continuing Education: Attend continuing education programs, sponsored by National Jewish Health, manufacturers, and professional societies, and make efforts to obtain at least 12 CEU credits per year.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's of Science degree in biology, chemistry, or a related scientific field is required.
  • Work Experience: Previous laboratory experience is preferred.
  • Special Training, Certification, or Licensure: None required.
