Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Process Optimization Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for defining and resolving process problems, developing standard work, and ensuring operators and supervisors are engaged and trained in running plant processes consistently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process Improvement
    • Define and resolve process problems through individual and team-based continuous improvement activities and structured problem-solving methods.
    • Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, output, and safety.
  • Standard Work Development
    • Develop standard work and ensure operators and supervisors are engaged and trained in running plant processes consistently.
  • Process Audits and Control
    • Develop layered process audits, control and reaction procedures, and standard work for all processes.
  • Equipment Commissioning and Troubleshooting
    • Commission new production equipment and processes, monitor modifications, upgrades, and troubleshoot existing processes.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Work closely with the Senior Manufacturing Engineer and Production Manager to monitor and improve the efficiency, output, and safety of the plant.
    • Collaborate with operators and staff to develop and implement process improvements.

Requirements

  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
  • Experience
    • 3-5 years of hands-on process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a wet formed fiberglass mat process or equivalent.
  • Skills
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
    • Strong detailed-oriented technical writing skills.
    • Lean six sigma skills and experience preferred.
    • Familiarity with SPC (statistical process control) would be helpful.
    • Advanced analytical skills, and creativity in solving problems/troubleshooting.
    • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple short and long-term projects.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and presentation), with the ability to effectively work with others in a team environment.
