Job Title: Health, Safety and Environmental Specialist - Glass Fiber Operations
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health, Safety and Environmental Specialist to join our team in Glass Fiber Operations. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe work environment, developing and implementing health and safety policies, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote and maintain a safe work environment, leading by example and ensuring all employees understand and adhere to safety protocols
- Develop and implement health and safety policies, procedures, and training programs to minimize the risk of accidents and injuries
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions
- Manage workers' compensation claims, OSHA 300 logs, and other safety-related records
- Collaborate with external providers to manage claims and return-to-work practices
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local health and safety regulations, including OSHA and NIOSH
Ideal Candidate:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Proven initiative and ability to handle complex assignments with a proactive attitude
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to develop and manage a budgetary control process
- Analytical, data-driven problem-solving and action planning skills
- Ability to make independent and well-thought-out decisions
- Organized, self-starter, results-oriented, and unique problem solver
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office products
- Professional certification in safety, industrial hygiene, or environmental engineering (CSP, CIH)
- Bachelor's degree in health and safety management or related field, with at least 10 years of experience in a high-speed process manufacturing environment, and at least 5 years in a leadership position
