Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Business Risk Officer to join our team at Truist Financial Corporation. As a key member of our risk management team, you will be responsible for providing strategic risk advisory services to our Business Unit Executive Leaders and Business Unit Risk Managers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide robust 2nd line oversight to ensure compliant execution of the corporate risk management framework for all eight risk types in the 1st line.
  • Aggregate, report, and escalate risk accordingly.
  • Chair the Business Unit Risk Committee and actively serve as a member on various Committees, Councils, and Working Groups, Board meetings, regulatory agency meetings, and examinations.
  • Escalate pertinent issues or significant events to Risk Program owners, executive management, and/or the Board for all eight risk types.
  • Monitor the Business Unit risk and control framework for adequate design, documentation, and effectiveness in order to meet internal and regulatory requirements/expectations.
  • Lead a team of risk professionals in support of these job duties, including salary administration, performance assessment, coaching, team member selection, training, and career development of staff.
Requirements
  • Advanced graduate degree in Business, Finance, or equivalent science/academic field.
  • Twenty years of risk management experience in financial services or related field, including extensive experience in areas such as credit underwriting or capital and liquidity management.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills in the discussion of risk management with a wide range of management levels.
  • Broad risk and regulatory knowledge.
  • Superior ability to think strategically, multi-task, and drive change.
  • Strong quantitative, governance, and analytic abilities.
  • Ability to make decisive and quick decisions.
  • Executive and Board level presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Twenty-five years of risk management experience in financial services or related field.
  • Ability to forge strong, trusting relationships with BU Executive Leaders.
  • FRM/CFA or equivalent advanced risk certification (or relevant Advanced Degree).
  • Ability to translate 2nd line risk framework objectives into actionable and executable tasks for the Business Unit Risk Managers.
  • Experience working with regulators.
