Job Summary:
The Mobile County Public School System is seeking a highly skilled Psychometrist to join our team. As a Psychometrist, you will be responsible for administering and interpreting individual psychological evaluations for all age levels, completing comprehensive written reports, and assisting in the planning, development, and evaluation/monitoring of programs to meet identified learning needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and central office staff.
- Attend meetings for referral, eligibility, and IEP development/changes, when necessary.
- Administer and interpret individual psychological evaluations for all age levels.
- Complete comprehensive written reports.
- Assist in the planning, development, and evaluation/monitoring of programs to meet identified learning needs through data-based decision making.
- Serve as a consultant to parents, teachers, other school personnel, and community agencies to assist with planning and implementing methods to maximize learning and adjustment of students.
- Apply ethics/standards of professional practice and observe relevant laws and policies that govern practices.
- Participate in professional organizations and continually seek to improve professional knowledge and skills.
- Provide in-service training to parents and staff on relevant topics.
- Utilize PowerSchool SIS (Student Information Systems) and PowerSchool Special Programs.
- Travel to various schools or other sites as assigned.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings and committee meetings as required.
- Supervise interns as assigned.
- Assure procedural safeguards and maintain confidentiality of records and data in all sources.
- Recognize issues of diversity that affect routine interactions and effectively meet these diverse needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Special Services, the Assistant Executive Director of Special Services, and the Supervisor of Psychological Services.
Qualifications:
Must have a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology, School Psychology, Psychometry, Special Education, or a related field, from a regionally accredited college or university.
Must have Certification as Psychometrist or School Psychologist by Alabama State Department of Education.
A minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience or Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) is preferred.
Must have typing skills and familiarity with word processing and database software.
Such alternatives and additions to the above qualifications as the Executive Director of Special Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
