Position Overview: Buyer - Greenwood, SC

The Buyer is tasked with the critical function of researching, assessing, negotiating, and acquiring goods and services for a diverse group of companies across North America. This role involves processing requisitions and purchase orders while managing expenditures and capital purchases for various operational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Execute and oversee tactical and strategic purchase orders across multiple entities and locations, ensuring compliance with established protocols.
  2. Facilitate the procurement process from requisition through to purchase order, including goods receipt and vendor payment.
  3. Prioritize and expedite urgent order requests while maintaining service level agreements.
  4. Coordinate delivery schedules and manage the accuracy of goods receipt entries, resolving any discrepancies with suppliers.
  5. Maintain comprehensive records of all transactions, ensuring timely and precise data entry and archiving.
  6. Communicate effectively with vendors regarding incomplete or unfulfilled orders, maintaining a variety of vendor files.
  7. Support cost-saving initiatives and strategic sourcing assignments as required.
  8. Prepare competitive price quotes and resolve any accruals or accounts payable discrepancies.
  9. Engage with cross-functional teams and personnel at all levels to foster collaboration.
  10. Participate in safety, health, and training programs, adhering to all relevant policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; an Associate degree in Business or related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement within the manufacturing sector.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, SAP, and procurement processes.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage supplier relationships effectively.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as 5S and Six Sigma is advantageous.
