Key Responsibilities- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the Senior Vice President of Literary Affairs to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for identifying and acquiring literary properties.
- Material Evaluation: Source, track, and evaluate literary material from various publishing stages, including books, articles, graphic novels, and short stories.
- Reporting and Analysis: Generate regular reports to inform executives about source material in the marketplace and provide insights on titles selected to match development needs.
- Relationship Building: Establish and maintain relationships with literary agents, editors, and book-to-film agents to stay informed about emerging trends and opportunities.
- Acquisition Support: Assist Paramount Pictures in acquiring the dramatic rights to source material, ensuring that all necessary agreements and contracts are in place.
- Database Management: Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of literary properties, including tracking and analyzing market trends and competitor activity.
- Experience: 7+ years of experience in film and/or foreign scouting, with a proven track record of identifying and acquiring literary properties.
- Skills: Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and concepts to various stakeholders.
- Analytical Skills: Critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate and analyze large amounts of data to inform strategic decisions.
- Time Management: Proven ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accurate records and databases.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as English, Film, or Communications.
- Authorization: Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
