Geosciences Academic Program Coordinator

Position Overview
The Department of Geosciences is seeking a dedicated Academic Programs Administrator to contribute to a Research Coordination Network funded by the National Science Foundation. This initiative aims to enhance understanding of water security and the health of private well users in the Gulf Coast Region.
Objectives of the Network
The primary goals include:
- Establishing a robust and visible community of scientists, students, and professionals across various sectors including academia, industry, non-profit, and government.
- Generating new interdisciplinary insights regarding the health challenges faced by private well users.
- Strengthening collaborative relationships among partners to sustain research and educational efforts.
Key Responsibilities
The essential functions of this role encompass:
- Collecting, developing, and disseminating project information, action plans, and deliverables to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Designing, coordinating, and distributing a semi-annual newsletter.
- Managing content for social media platforms and the project website.
- Monitoring project progress and providing management support to the project lead.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Level I: Bachelor’s degree in geosciences, environmental science, or natural resource management with no prior experience.
- Level II: Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields plus two years of experience in program coordination.
- Level III: Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields plus four years of experience in program coordination.
Substitutions for Education:
Candidates with relevant experience may substitute two years of experience for one year of required education.
Essential Skills:
- Strong organizational, coordination, and time management abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams in a multicultural setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluency in English is required.
- Familiarity with social media platforms.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in stakeholder engagement and science communication.
- Understanding of private well stewardship.
- Knowledge of the grant funding landscape in scientific research.
Salary Information
Compensation is set at $34.71 per hour.
