Position Overview

Job Title: Geography Instructor

Position Summary:

The Department of Geosciences at Auburn University is seeking applications for a non-tenure track faculty role in Geography. This position is designed for a 9-month appointment, emphasizing a commitment to teaching excellence and student engagement.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in human geography and demonstrate the ability to teach a variety of undergraduate courses, including large sections of global and human geography, as well as specialized upper-division classes.

We are particularly interested in candidates who can foster inclusive learning environments that cater to a diverse student body. A dedication to active teaching methods and a focus on student success across all academic levels is essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach three courses each semester.
  • Prepare course syllabi and grading materials.
  • Maintain weekly office hours for student support.
  • Coordinate with Graduate Teaching Assistants.
  • Promote Geography programs and assist in recruiting students.
  • Engage in departmental activities and contribute to the Geosciences Department and College of Sciences and Mathematics.

Qualifications:

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Geography and have proven teaching experience. Strong written and interpersonal communication skills are necessary.

All candidates must be legally eligible to work in the United States at the time of appointment.
