Job Summary:

The Respiratory Care Practitioner III is a key member of the respiratory care team, responsible for providing high-quality patient care through assessment, planning, intervention, education, and evaluation. This role requires a strong foundation in respiratory care principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide respiratory care services to patients, including oxygen and aerosolized medication delivery, ventilator care, bronchial hygiene therapy, and diagnostic services.
  • Assess patient response to therapies and make recommendations for changes or modifications as needed.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Provide education and training to patients, families, and healthcare staff on respiratory care topics.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to respiratory care.
  • Assist with data collection and record-keeping, as well as product evaluation and assessment.
  • Serve as a preceptor to new team members and students, providing guidance and mentorship in respiratory care practices.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an AMA-approved school for Respiratory Care.
  • Current Respiratory Care License in the state of employment.
  • National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) credentialed.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
  • Two years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist or five years as a Certified Respiratory Therapist, with demonstrated clinical competency in at least two of the following environments: Nursery/NICU, PICU, ICU/CCU, ED, and general care areas.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse patients, families, and healthcare staff.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of non-invasive respiratory therapy equipment and therapeutic procedures.
  • Understanding of EKGs, electronic monitoring, lead placement, and basic arrhythmias.
  • Ability to gather and interpret data, and to make recommendations for changes or modifications to patient care plans.
Training and Development:
  • EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) training preferred.
