Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Account Representative-Self Pay to join our team at Mount Desert Island Hospital. As a key member of our financial services team, you will be responsible for preparing and submitting self pay balances in a timely manner, assisting patients with account inquiries, and handling cash postings for self pay patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and submit self pay balances in a timely and accurate manner
  • Assist patients with account inquiries and resolve any issues in a professional and courteous manner
  • Handle cash postings for self pay patients, including cash, checks, and credit card payments
  • Provide backup insurance posting to the cash department as needed
Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent required; associate's degree in business or related field preferred
  • Previous medical business office or hospital business/billing experience required
  • Knowledge of healthcare accounts receivable management and collections
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to interact with patients and vendors
  • Advanced skill level using software such as Word and Excel
