Position Title: Chef Manager

ROLE SUMMARY

The Chef Manager is accountable for overseeing the entire dining experience within the community, ensuring exceptional service, staff management, and adherence to quality standards while complying with relevant regulations and company policies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design a nutritionally balanced menu utilizing GFS regional and seasonal templates.
  • Incorporate resident preferences into menu planning.
  • Prepare delicious meals while strictly following food safety protocols.
  • Ensure appealing presentation of all dishes served.
  • Manage dining room operations, including setup, service, and cleanup, upholding high hospitality standards.
  • Order necessary supplies weekly, considering menu requirements, budget constraints, and inventory levels.
  • Conduct regular inventory checks and maintain kitchenettes in common areas.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards within the dining services department.
  • Train staff involved in meal service to ensure high-quality service.
  • Maintain sufficient food and supplies for emergency preparedness.
  • Engage in resident onboarding, care discussions, and food committees as needed.
  • Accommodate special dietary needs while respecting residents' choices.
  • Implement a sanitation schedule for kitchen and dining areas to ensure cleanliness.
  • Collaborate with other departments for special events.
  • Develop work schedules for dining services personnel.
  • Ensure staffing levels meet community dining requirements while adhering to budgetary guidelines.
  • Conduct interviews and select candidates for dining services roles.
  • Perform employee evaluations, provide coaching, and manage disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Inspire and motivate dining services staff through effective leadership and support.
  • Foster positive relationships with residents, staff, and visitors.

Additional duties may be assigned as required within the scope of this role. Assistance at sister communities may be requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: A high school diploma or GED is required. Culinary Arts coursework is preferred, or three years of experience in a commercial cooking environment, or a combination of education and supervisory experience.

Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office in a Windows environment is required, with the ability to learn company-specific software.

Certificates & Licenses: Must possess current Serv-Safe Manager Certification or obtain it within 90 days of hire.
