Job Title: Certified Coder

At SPCP/Southeast Medical Group, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Certified Coder to join our team.

Job Summary

The Certified Coder will be responsible for reviewing medical records to ensure accurate billing, participating in audits to evaluate coding accuracy, and developing methodologies to improve coding issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coding and Compliance: Review medical records to ensure accurate billing and coding, and participate in audits to evaluate coding accuracy.
  • Methodology Development: Develop methodologies to improve coding issues and ensure compliance with coding guidelines.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, patients, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely billing.
  • Analysis and Problem-Solving: Analyze patient records to determine accurate medical codes and resolve coding discrepancies.
Requirements
  • Certification: CPC certification through AAPC required.
  • Education and Experience: High school diploma/GED and at least one year of previous medical billing experience.
  • Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease process, as well as comprehensive understanding of ICD-10-CM classification systems.
Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Physical Demands: Ability to sit for extended periods, ability to stand for extended periods, and ability to use fine motor skills to operate office equipment.
  • Mental Demands: Ability to receive and comprehend instructions verbally and/or in writing, ability to use logical reasoning for simple and complex problem-solving, and ability to travel to multiple locations as required.
