Environmental Scientist

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Scientist to lead a variety of military environmental projects within the Federal sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental science, engineering, or geology, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in environmental investigation and remediation projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for project and task management, client interaction, cost estimating, remedial systems design, and technical report writing. They will also be expected to mentor junior staff and work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors.

- Leading a variety of military environmental projects within the Federal sector.
- BA/BS degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or Geology and 2 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of relevant experience and/or education.
- Valid driver's license.
- US Citizen, for access to DoD project sites.
- Ability to successfully obtain a DBIDs pass to gain access to any required federal military installation site locations.
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check.
- Master's Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology or related discipline.
- Ability to travel at least 30% of the time.
- 3 years of experience within the consulting industry.
- Experienced with environmental science principles, including site assessment and characterization, remediation, risk assessment, environmental chemistry, etc.
- Experience with military munitions response and environmental projects.
- Possess current 40-Hour HAZWOPER and Supervisor certifications and be able to meet the medical clearance requirements of an OSHA (HAZWOPER) medical surveillance physical examination.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint) and preparing technical reports.
- Experience using ArcGIS and generating maps and report figures.
- Excellent skills in written and spoken communication (including polished client presentation skills), organization, and time management.
- Field work will be required, including oversight of subcontractors.
- Ability to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors.
