About the Role

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Geologist to join our team in Honolulu. As a key member of our environmental remediation team, you will play a critical role in supporting project managers in the planning, oversight of fieldwork, and evaluation of hydrogeologic and reporting phases for a wide range of multidisciplinary environmental projects in Hawaii.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform standard scientific work requiring application of techniques and procedures.
  • Detect problems when using standardized procedures due to sample conditions, equipment difficulties, etc.
  • Conduct specific phases of projects for more experienced scientists.
  • Propose appropriate analytical methods and techniques.
  • Assist in providing advice and consulting services within the scope of scientific knowledge.
  • Draw conclusions and make recommendations based on analysis.
  • Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
Requirements
  • BA/BS in Geology or Geological Sciences and two years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • US Citizen for access to DoD project sites.
  • Ability to successfully obtain a DBIDs pass to gain access to any required federal military installation site locations.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment Motor Vehicle Record Check.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment Medical Check.
Preferred Requirements
  • Professional Geologist License or Geologist in Training Certificate.
  • Familiarity with common drilling techniques for environmental work.
  • Ability to travel at least 25% of the time.
  • Three years of experience within the consulting industry.
  • Experienced with environmental science principles, including site assessment and characterization, remediation, risk assessment, environmental chemistry, etc.
  • Experience with military munitions response and environmental projects.
  • Possess current 40-Hour HAZWOPER and Supervisor certifications and be able to meet the medical clearance requirements of an OSHA (HAZWOPER) medical surveillance physical examination.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint) and preparing technical reports.
  • Experience using ArcGIS and generating maps and report figures.
