POSITION OVERVIEW
To ensure a secure work environment by upholding and implementing the company's safety protocols, performing inspections, cleaning, repairing, installing wiring, and maintaining electrical apparatus, service lines, substations, and other electrical systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Utilizes schematics and wiring diagrams for the installation and upkeep of electrical systems.
- Disassembles, cleans, replaces worn or damaged components, rebuilds, and tests electronic controls, motors, generators, transmission lines, control panels, rectifiers, etc., employing hand, power, and testing tools.
- Evaluates and adjusts electrical systems on a scheduled basis to ensure optimal operating conditions.
- Tests, splices, and vulcanizes cables using a vulcanizer, blowtorch, and fire pot.
- Diagnoses the source of malfunctioning operations and executes necessary repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
- Conducts work on power lines and poles as necessary.
- Installs conduits, fittings, switches, controls, and fixtures for new setups or replacements.
- Performs basic rigging as required.
- Documents daily activities in a logbook detailing work performed and equipment status.
- Maintains equipment and work area in a tidy and organized manner.
- Adheres to all safety regulations while executing all tasks in a safe and professional manner.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED: Pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, hacksaws, voltmeter, hammers, line splicing tools, belts, hooks, ampere meters, circuit testers, hand lines and blocks, and other related tools and equipment including mobile units.
MATERIALS USED: Cable, electric wire, conduit, insulators, substation equipment, electric motors, equipment repair parts, and other relevant materials.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Candidates must possess strong communication skills (both oral and written).
- Must effectively manage time and establish priorities.
- Requires the capability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- The worker is required to wear a Respirator.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance and work rotating shifts and days off.
- The physical demands of the position are classified as Heavy Work: Exerting up to 80 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Ability to perceive sounds with a minimum of 40db Hz, 1,000 Hz, 2,000 Hz, and 3,000 Hz with or without correction.
- Ability to communicate using hand signals.
- The capacity to work in extreme heat, extreme cold, vibration, exposure to chemicals (airborne and/or skin contact), high noise levels, confined spaces, and heights.
- Ability to ascend or descend ladders, scaffolding, stairs, ramps, and similar structures with agility.
- Ability to kneel or work in confined spaces.
- Must be proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical maintenance within heavy industry, with exposure to large mining equipment being advantageous.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess personal tools.
