Position Overview

The Production Assembly Technician is responsible for executing various repetitive assembly and fabrication tasks. As products are manufactured, the technician assembles materials according to safety, quality, and process standards. This role requires following instructions and completing daily tasks; utilizing bills of materials, mechanical drawings, customer specifications, verbal instructions, and sample components to accurately assemble equipment and subcomponents. The technician must exhibit a high level of responsibility and accountability while working efficiently to meet production goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interpret and adhere to basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions to ensure precise assembly of equipment and products.
  • Assemble and install equipment and sub-assemblies according to engineering specifications, drawings, and work instructions.
  • Construct electrical panels following schematic diagrams.
  • Safely operate hand and power tools, as well as compressed air drivers, to assemble components.
  • Utilize metric and standard measuring tools effectively.
  • Fabricate various parts, whether composite or plastic, to ensure proper fit.
  • Operate forklifts, cranes, and pallet jacks, among other industrial equipment as necessary.
  • Conduct all work in compliance with quality standards and established safety protocols; wear required safety gear.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace; handle tools, supplies, and materials with care.
  • Participate in rotating production workstations to meet scheduling needs.
  • Develop a foundational understanding of quality and productivity standards.
  • Attend all company meetings and safety training sessions as assigned.
  • Assist with warehouse duties as required.
In addition to the responsibilities outlined above, the technician may be assigned tasks by their supervisor that are closely related to their duties.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 1 year of relevant assembly or construction experience.
  • Proficient in identifying and using assembly and measuring tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, power drills, and wire strippers.
  • Effective communication skills in English; ability to read, write, and comprehend written and verbal instructions and safety guidelines.
  • Basic computer and mathematical skills are required.
  • Willingness to learn to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, and other industrial equipment.
  • Familiarity with process improvement methodologies.
  • Strong team player capable of working independently, acquiring new skills, and taking on new responsibilities.
  • Availability to work 1st shift hours and flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree from a technical institution is preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is advantageous.
Physical Requirements:
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and moderate heat.
  • The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • The employee must possess full range of motion and be able to kneel, bend, reach, sit, and stand for extended periods during the work shift.
