The Health and Safety Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the establishment and upkeep of the QHSE program (Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment) for the U.S. and their local site.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the transportation of hazardous materials in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Perform Dangerous Goods Checks for outgoing shipments.
- Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Stay informed about the latest hazardous materials regulations.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders to address compliance challenges.
- Investigate incidents related to hazardous materials and implement necessary corrective measures.
- Coordinate with transportation providers to ensure safe delivery.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop local process documentation and facilitate training sessions.
- Identify risks and opportunities within the quality management function.
- Support special projects as required.
Qualifications
- Preferred Bachelor's degree in Quality, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related business field.
- 3-5+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Familiarity with the IATA Dangerous Goods Acceptance Checklist.
- Comprehensive understanding of national and international hazardous materials transportation regulations.
- Proficient in software and tools related to hazardous materials management.
- Ability to work autonomously and make informed decisions in high-pressure environments.
- Experience in the transportation and logistics sector.
