Health and Safety Specialist, Hazardous Goods

Location: Torrance, California

The Health and Safety Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the establishment and upkeep of the QHSE program (Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment) for the U.S. and their local site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the transportation of hazardous materials in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Perform Dangerous Goods Checks for outgoing shipments.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Stay informed about the latest hazardous materials regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to address compliance challenges.
  • Investigate incidents related to hazardous materials and implement necessary corrective measures.
  • Coordinate with transportation providers to ensure safe delivery.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop local process documentation and facilitate training sessions.
  • Identify risks and opportunities within the quality management function.
  • Support special projects as required.

Qualifications

  • Preferred Bachelor's degree in Quality, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related business field.
  • 3-5+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Familiarity with the IATA Dangerous Goods Acceptance Checklist.
  • Comprehensive understanding of national and international hazardous materials transportation regulations.
  • Proficient in software and tools related to hazardous materials management.
  • Ability to work autonomously and make informed decisions in high-pressure environments.
  • Experience in the transportation and logistics sector.
