About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our Operations department, you will be responsible for designing, procuring, fabricating, installing, and commissioning systems associated with space vehicle launch and test facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop piping systems for launch pads, test stands, and other facilities, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Perform fluid and structural analysis of new or modified designs, using tools such as CAEPipe and Bentley AutoPipe.
  • Select and procure components, collaborating with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and adherence to technical requirements.
  • Guide the creation of models and drawings of designs, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Perform system and component level analyses, documenting results and providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Draft and review specifications and statements of work, ensuring clarity and concision.
  • Draft and review operational procedures, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Coordinate with suppliers on costs, schedule, and technical design requirements, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to technical requirements.
  • Oversee fabrication, installation, and commissioning of new or modified fluid systems, ensuring quality and safety.
  • Provide input on cost, schedule, and technical requirements to internal customers, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering (or similar discipline).
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of designing and developing complex systems.
  • Experience in design and analysis of piping/tubing systems, using tools such as CAEPipe and Bentley AutoPipe.
  • Experience with solid modeling or plant modeling, design lifecycle documentation, and configuration control.
  • Experience creating fabrication and installation drawings, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of standard components, installation, and fabrication methods of piping systems.
  • Knowledge of fluid components typical in tubing and piping systems, including valves, regulators, pumps, and more.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Engineering degree (Master's or Ph.D.).
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, with a proven track record of designing and developing complex systems.
  • Knowledge of ASME B31.3 and in-field oversight of construction, testing, and/or operations of piping systems.
  • Experience with Autocad or Autocad P&ID, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience with steady-state and transient fluid flow analysis, using tools such as ANSYS and NASTRAN.
  • Knowledge of precision cleaning processes and levels, as well as passivation of stainless steel.

We offer a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $111,690.00-$156,366.00, depending on location.
