Vice President of Human Resources
CMA CGM Group, a prominent player in the shipping and logistics sector, is seeking a seasoned Vice President of Human Resources. This role is pivotal in aligning organizational objectives with the workforce in designated business units.
Overview
The Vice President of HR, also known as the regional HR Business Partner, is tasked with fostering partnerships across the HR spectrum to deliver valuable services that reflect the strategic goals of the organization. This position requires a deep understanding of the business unit's financial health, strategic plans, culture, and competitive landscape. The role serves as the primary HR leader for American President Lines, LLC and its affiliates in North America, reporting directly to the Chief People Officer for the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and predict HR needs; Analyze workforce trends and metrics to formulate recommendations, programs, and policies. Contribute actively to the organizational budget process.
- Collaborate with HR and cross-functional teams within a shared service model. Provide insights and guidance on talent acquisition, development, performance management, retention, engagement, training, organizational restructuring, workforce planning, and succession planning.
- Influence and recommend strategies for Labor Relations, clearly defining the HR role in labor relations processes and executing in coordination with the Chief Human Resources Officer and shared services.
- Partner with management to identify staffing requirements and collaborate with Talent Acquisition to implement recruitment strategies.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of legal obligations related to employee management, minimizing legal risks and ensuring compliance. Work with the legal department as necessary and provide HR policy guidance.
- Engage closely with management and employees to enhance workplace relationships, boost morale, and improve productivity and retention. Offer daily performance management support to line management, including coaching, counseling, career development, and disciplinary actions.
- Identify training needs for business units and individual management development. Participate in evaluating and monitoring training programs to ensure effectiveness and follow up to confirm training objectives are achieved.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Labor Relations, or a related field.
- Juris Doctorate (JD) with a focus on employment law is preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in Human Resources, including at least 5 years in an HR Business Partner or Generalist role within a Unionized environment.
- Proven knowledge of employment law at both Federal and State levels.
- Excellent oral, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in executive-level presentations and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Preferred background in transportation, logistics, or maritime shipping sectors.
