Patient Access Representative

Job Summary: As a Patient Access Representative working the night shift, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth registration of patients accessing services at JPS Health Network. Your primary responsibility will be to greet patients, direct them to the appropriate areas, and register them in a timely and accurate manner. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greets and directs patients and visitors in person and over the phone, utilizing AIDET principles to provide excellent customer service.
- Accurately identifies patient information and registers them in the database, ensuring timely and accurate reporting and billing.
- Explains and secures consent for registration forms, including general consent forms, MSPQ, notice of privacy practices, patient rights and responsibilities, and MyChart enrollment.
- Distributes patient-related materials and obtains signatures on insurance waivers and financial forms as applicable.
- Collects patient-owed cost-sharing amounts, including copays, deductibles, and coinsurance, in accordance with Standard Operating Procedure.
- Acquires precertification status for applicable services, such as in-office procedures, inpatient/outpatient surgeries, and radiology and cardiology tests.
- Utilizes insurance verification tools to accurately verify patient insurance and financial information, maintaining an error rate in accordance with Standard Operating Procedure.
- Coordinates and schedules appointments, selects referral providers, visit types, and locations to expedite patient access to care and minimize no-shows.
- Maintains daily Epic work queues, quality assurance, and productivity levels with minimal errors.
- Provides exceptional customer service by complying with JPS Health Network's attendance and punctuality procedures and attending mandatory educational sessions.
Requirements:
- Certification in Non-Aggressive Crisis Management, obtained during department orientation and maintained throughout employment.
- Patient Access General Consent Orientation and Patient Financial Experience Training completed within 30 days of hire.
- Relevant experience in patient access or a related field, depending on the level of the position (I-IV).
