Position Overview
The role of the Manufacturing Systems Engineer is to manage the electrical and mechanical operations of the manufacturing facilities, focusing on design, installation, and troubleshooting.

This position entails evaluating existing manufacturing machinery and methodologies, as well as exploring innovative technologies and processes to enhance overall efficiency, increase throughput, and mitigate production challenges.

Key Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities for process or cost enhancements aimed at boosting business performance by minimizing waste, enhancing productivity, reducing downtime, and lowering expenses.
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert in improvement strategies and problem-solving techniques. Provide training, guidance, and leadership to team members on these methodologies and initiatives.
- Lead and facilitate enhancements in material flow and replenishment systems, including Kanban, PFEP, and EPEI.
- Advocate for 5S and Workplace Organization by pinpointing and prioritizing significant opportunities for enhancing business performance in safety, quality, delivery, and cost through the alignment of process improvement efforts with business objectives.

Act as a proactive strategic partner to collaborate with site management in identifying, planning, and executing process improvement strategies, while guiding them in the application of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.

Training and Development
- Mentor and develop employees in the application of various Lean and Six Sigma tools, acting as a subject matter expert; enhance and sustain productivity improvements using Lean manufacturing techniques such as Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Standard Work, Daily Management, SMED, TPM, 3P, and Kanban at the process, cell, and value stream levels.

- Collaborate with teams on comprehensive process improvement projects, providing expert support while facilitating and monitoring team progress in tool utilization, change management, root cause analysis, and process improvement methodologies; ensure that appropriate controls are established to track and maintain results, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Utilize best practices to identify areas for enhancing employee safety, food safety, and product quality.

Collaboration
- Work in partnership with Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, Administrative Functional Leaders, and Executive Staff to pinpoint areas for waste reduction and productivity enhancement.

- Collaborate with Manufacturing Finance on capital project cost justification and return on investment (ROI) analysis.

- Oversee project implementations to ensure completion and validate savings or ROI. Conduct engineering time and motion studies to confirm and establish process and staffing standards.

- Design and evaluate process upgrades and new systems and equipment. Document standard operating procedures for new processes and equipment, and provide training to Supervisors, Team Leads, and Operators.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Ability to stand, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull. Regular lifting of 25 lbs and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. Exposure to temperature variations while working with uncooked, cooked, and frozen products.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Technical Proficiency
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD.
- Understanding of GMP, Food Safety, Food Quality, SQF certification, and HACCP as it relates to daily operations.

Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field is required.
- Experience: A minimum of 7 years in food manufacturing engineering or continuous improvement roles. USDA experience is preferred.
- Project Management background is advantageous.
