Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: The Facilities and Equipment Technician I plays a crucial role in delivering essential support for facilities and equipment within the manufacturing sector during the designated shift. This position involves training, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing manufacturing machinery. Effective communication and coordination with both preceding and successive shifts are vital to ensure seamless operations.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a two-year electro-mechanical associate degree, relevant experience, or a related field of study.
  • Proficient problem-solving abilities with a strong capability to interpret blueprints, electrical, and mechanical schematics.
  • Basic understanding of programming concepts related to software applications; experience with automated manufacturing systems is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with fundamental Microsoft software applications is required.
  • Physical capability to lift and transport items weighing up to 45 pounds.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage positively and professionally with diverse personnel.
  • Compliance with safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment as mandated by safety policies and regulations.
  • Flexibility in work hours to ensure uninterrupted equipment operation across all shifts, including willingness to work overtime as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct general maintenance tasks as assigned by management, including but not limited to snow removal and light bulb replacement.
  • Execute preventative maintenance (PM) tasks as outlined in the maintenance program.
  • Provide technical assistance for equipment and facilities within an electronics manufacturing environment, including interpreting assembly documentation and production standards.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to address equipment performance challenges, making adjustments to maintenance protocols as required.
  • Set up, troubleshoot, repair, and operate manufacturing equipment throughout the facility.
  • Support Manufacturing Engineering in programming equipment as necessary.
  • Assist in training team members on machine operation and the proper use of tools and equipment.
  • Contribute to the design, fabrication, and implementation of tooling or fixtures in accordance with engineering specifications and requirements.
  • Engage in discussions regarding new equipment suggestions based on previous experiences.
  • Participate in initiatives related to 5S, Kaizen, safety, and health programs.
  • Perform additional tasks or responsibilities as assigned.

ACCOUNTABILITY: The Facilities and Equipment Technician I is responsible for the quality and timeliness of their work, adherence to safe working practices, attendance, professional demeanor, cooperation, and overall contribution to the Electronic Systems Sioux Falls team.
