Certified Veterinary Technician

About Us:
At Sunset Hill Veterinary and Rehabilitation Center, we are dedicated to providing compassionate, lifelong care for pets. We are currently seeking a full-time and/or part-time Certified Veterinary Technician to join our team.
Position Overview:
The ideal candidate will embody our Whole Person Approach, ensuring a supportive and enriching environment for our veterinary staff. Key Responsibilities:
- Review patient medical records, document treatments, and manage billing through our computer system.
- Maintain educational materials for clients effectively.
- Utilize expertise in phlebotomy and patient comfort to conduct testing procedures.
- Accurately perform specimen testing on blood, urine, and other samples, adhering to medical directives.
- Assist veterinarians with inpatient care, including IV fluid management and sample collection.
- Support veterinarians in general practice and rehabilitation surgeries, including dental cleanings and radiographic procedures.
- Administer anesthesia and monitor patients throughout procedures.
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding medications and potential complications.
- Document and relay test results to the appropriate personnel promptly.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of examination rooms at all times.
- Collect medical histories and vital signs from patients.
- Facilitate patient admissions and discharges for various examinations and procedures.
Additional Duties:
Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and foster positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
Required Skills:
The ideal technician will possess skills in dental cleanings, anesthesia monitoring, surgical preparation, IV catheter placement, vaccination administration, venipuncture, and in-house laboratory work.
Education and Experience:
A high school diploma or GED is required, along with one to two years of relevant experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid Veterinary Technician license in the state of Washington is mandatory.
