Leidos, as part of the NISC IV program, is looking for experienced professionals for the position of Construction Inspector to deliver technical oversight and management support for modernization projects at Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) facilities.

This role encompasses inspection support for a variety of projects, including environmental equipment installations, mechanical systems, roofing, parking lot renovations, facility upgrades, and security installations.

These projects are located in the central United States and are coordinated from a regional office.

The selected candidate will support the FAA's Engineering Services Terminal team by leveraging extensive experience and advanced technical expertise across various complex assignments.

It is essential to plan, coordinate, and execute tasks with a high level of autonomy while keeping the Project Engineer informed of significant issues.

The role demands the ability to independently assess the operational status of systems and facilities, monitor construction progress, review electrical schematics, installation designs, and specifications, manage project logistics, ensure adherence to safety protocols, and prepare risk management strategies.


This position necessitates 80% travel, with assignments typically lasting several weeks or months, and all expenses will be reimbursed.

Key Responsibilities Include:
Oversee on-site construction of FAA projects and ensure quality assurance that completed work aligns with plans and specifications.
Document and report on construction progress to the FAA Resident Engineer.
Monitor safety conditions on construction sites and prepare reports on unsafe practices.

Conduct engineering assessments regarding code compliance, reliability, safety, and project specifications, and recommend corrective actions as necessary.

Provide evaluations of construction progress.
Escort contractor personnel in secured areas.
Maintain records of Government Furnished Material (GFM) receipt, inventory, and condition.
Prepare daily entries in the Construction Logbook.
Keep comprehensive records of all correspondence and reports related to the project.
Ensure compliance of the general contractor with FAA Environmental, Safety, and Health regulations.

Essential Qualifications:
A minimum of 10 years of construction oversight experience for non-degreed candidates.

If degreed, a preference for a Civil Engineering Degree (B.S.) or a related field with at least 4 years of experience as a Project Engineer or Resident Engineer, along with Civil Engineering Design and Project Management experience.

Experience with towers, shelters, and similar structures is preferred.
Proficient in project design and management.
Familiarity with AutoCAD / MicroStation.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Robust technical background and experience in construction projects, risk management, coordination, and documentation.

Occasional alternate work schedules, including nights and weekends, may be required to meet project demands.

Experience in reviewing project drawings and specifications.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Word and MS Excel.
Ability to effectively coordinate with various project stakeholders, peers, and management levels.
Eligibility for Public Trust Suitability (must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident residing in the US for the past 3 years).
Must pass a drug screening.
A valid U.S. driver's license is required.

Compensation Range:
Compensation Range $68,000 - $124,550.00
