Patient Care Technician

Welcome to WVU Medicine, where we're committed to providing exceptional patient care. We're seeking a skilled Patient Care Technician to join our team.

This role involves providing nonprofessional direct and indirect patient care activities, including personal, physical, and comfort needs of patients, under the supervision of a registered professional nurse.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and be able to obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date. Prior patient care experience is a plus.

Responsibilities include observing and reporting patient concerns/changes in condition to a registered nurse immediately, assisting with admission, transfer, discharge, and general patient care duties, and maintaining a clean and safe environment to help prevent and/or control infections.

Additional duties may include assisting with specimen collection, preparing patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures, and communicating with RN regarding any nutrition issues.

Physical requirements include heavy/hard work, lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, and walking. Working environment characteristics include working closely with others, working protracted or irregular hours, and working around biohazards.
