The Lead Project Engineer for Shutdown Operations oversees initiatives pertaining to routine site-wide shutdowns, working closely with both internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure that projects adhere to timelines and budgetary constraints.
This position emphasizes the management of shutdown initiatives associated with equipment, utilities, facilities, calibration, and preventive maintenance, ensuring that all necessary tasks and documentation comply with site regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee projects related to routine shutdowns to guarantee that equipment, facilities, and utilities utilized in manufacturing processes meet the latest compliance standards.
- Develop, manage, and execute change controls pertinent to shutdown activities. Generate work orders as needed for specific shutdown-related systems and block holds.
- Collaborate proactively with internal and external partners, aligning with key stakeholders to create and implement effective, precise, and timely shutdown-related projects that align with business goals.
- Engage with other department managers and strategic partners to support business objectives, enhance business processes affecting project planning and execution, and implement necessary business process modifications.
- Communicate effectively across functions (and to leadership) before, during, and after shutdowns to ensure clear and concise decisions and guidance are provided.
- Address issues or situations that may impact project or shutdown timelines.
- Dedicate significant time during actual shutdown periods to ensure all functions and contractors are executing tasks accurately according to the schedule.
- Adjust schedules as necessary to maintain efficient and effective workflow.
- Ensure all required safety protocols are adhered to during shutdowns.
- Schedule, conduct, and lead team meetings before, during, and after shutdowns to ensure closure and accountability.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or a related scientific discipline is required.
- A Master's degree is preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Engineer in Training is preferred.
- OSHA/IOSH/NeBOSH Certification or equivalent is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant Project Engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a regulated industry (Life Sciences preferred).
- Proficiency in reading and understanding English-written job instructions and safety protocols is essential.
