Climate Justice Organizer

Step Up Louisiana is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Climate Justice Organizer to join our team. As a key member of our organizing team, you will be responsible for building and leading a coalition of community members, organizations, and allies to advance climate justice in the Greater Baton Rouge region.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, organizations, and allies to advance climate justice
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to engage and mobilize community members on climate justice issues
  • Organize and lead community events, campaigns, and actions to advance climate justice
  • Recruit and train member-leaders to take on leadership roles in the organization
  • Develop and implement fundraising and membership strategies to support the organization's work
  • Collaborate with other organizations and allies to advance climate justice in the region
Requirements:
  • At least 2 years of experience in organizing, community development, or a related field
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Strong understanding of climate justice and environmental issues
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours
